Membership of the Association is open to privately owned companies that supply passenger trains and traction equipment, on an operating lease basis, in countries within the European Economic Area, or in countries that are applying for membership to the European Union.

EPTTOLA aims to develop its membership and a number of potential companies have been identified.
EPTTOLA is a member of the Group of Representative Bodies (GRB) which includes; ALLRAIL, CER, EIM, ERFA, Fedecrail, NBRail, UIC, UIP, UIRR, UITP, UNIFE. The GRB itself is a grouping of railway associations in Europe with the role of supporting, in a transverse way, the rail sector’s input to the EU Agency for Railways work programme and its effect on safety and interoperability.
